Life Saving Combatives for Law Enforcement

This eight hour (one day) course is designed to teach sworn law enforcement officers how to defend themselves against assailants’ surprise attacks and life threatening assaults. Most “defensive tactics” training given to law enforcement officers today focuses primarily on non-harmful arrest/control/restraint techniques that are effective against a non-resistant subject, but not so much against one or more determined attackers. These defensive tactics fail to adequately prepare officers to deal with close quarter ambushes and to fight for their lives, resulting in underprepared officers more likely to panic and resort to verbal abuse and inappropriate higher levels of force. This course prepares officers mentally and physically to appropriately respond to attackers using “Fright Reaction” counter-ambush training and simple, easily retained tactics to regain control over the assailant(s). Interview and resisting arrest ambushes, with and without weapons, are addressed when standing and on the ground. Officers will emerge from this class far more confident in their ability to successfully defend themselves against close quarter attacks. The topics covered in this class include: The Purpose of Life-Saving Combatives, When to Apply Life-Saving Combatives, Close Combat Scenarios, Mindsetting (Motivation), Mindsetting (Overcoming the “Freeze”), Mindsetting ( Fight or Flight Awareness), Counter-Ambush (The Fright Reaction), Using Dropping Power to Enhance all Motion, Basic Close Combat Tools (Chop, Palm, Elbow, Knee, Shoe and Head Manipulation), Ground Defense, Sudden Knife Threat, Sudden Handgun Threat, The True Dynamics of Weapon Retention (In-Holster & Out of Holster and When to Draw & When Not to Draw), Q&As and Students’ Hands-On Physical Practice Session of Demonstrated Combatives. (Students must be in good “Fit for Duty” physical health.)
